What's an LP?

The other day I saw a YouTube video of a teen seeing her first LP. Here's the video:

For many of you, it is hard to imagine that your teens have never seen an LP before. For others, there are some other cultural gaps that you are starting to realize: they never used a cassette player, they never knew of a time the US wasn't in Iraq or Afghanistan, and they never knew a time without acts of terrorism in the world (and in schools). 

Let this be a reminder that our teens have a significanly different view of the world than we do.

Media and the Class of 2011

According to Nielsen, teens (ages 13-18) rely heavily on mobile devices, but not as phones. Instead of talking to others on the phone, they send text messages, watch videos, and look at mobile advertisements. They have shifted their attention away from the television to mobile devices. 

Remember that for teens the phone has moved beyond just a communications device and is now a consumption device, just like the computer and television.

8 Tips for Talking to Students about the Sermon

The other day I found a great article on discussing and applying the Sunday Morning sermon with your family. I personally love the idea of a Sunday afternoon debrief; it provides you with the opportunity to answer questions, state your own thoughts, and apply God's truth within your own family's context.
